This is part 2 and covers the basics for beginners + The cells I am using are all broken cells I purchased for a discount from Ebay. They were all fully pre-tabbed cells. They are the long tab or fully tabbed NOT the clipped tabs. This panel will cost about $60 completed and requires about 1-3 hours of work + resin embedding cure times which are best applied overnight. This works good if you have a good clean connection and you are willing to sacrifice about 5% of the solar cells over all watt output. You can actually make smaller panels this way increasing the wattage per square meter and saving on glass dimensions. This option works perfectly for joining together broken cells and making artistic designs with solar scraps that really produce power. This option is also perfect for solar model builders as this makes the panel one semi-rigid piece.

How to make solar panels. You'll need: Solar Cells (The 0.5 volt / 3.6 Amp type) Soldering Iron 2 x Perspex sheets at least 3mm thick EVA material Araldite or silicon sealant Heat Gun / Hair Dryer Material for spacer 'beading' Further SOLAR RESOURCE INFO: www.squidoo.com This part will be covering the soldering, wire connections and EVA applying to the solar panels. The cells are wired up in a series configuration resulting in a theoretical 8 volts from 16 cells. However in extreme sunshine this can result in a 10 volt reading. Back encapsulation is the best option in my opinion. The advantage is, no need for expensive silicone encapsulants. The back encapsulation prevents much of the resin from UV exposure. These are dew safe water tight 100% The humidity is as bad as it can get where we live. If they do not get wet here, they are safe anywhere. Buster was about 3 years old when he wandered in the veterinarian's office in early 1995 while our dog Sweetie was getting her yearly shots. We took him home:-) 16 great years. If not for the rare lymp cancer that started 5 months ago, he would have lived a few more years. He passed away while I was filming the foggy camera section of this video.
